I have been reading a couple of books in preparation for some upcoming guest recordings we have planned! The first is a non-fiction book, Pitch Craft: The Writers Guide to Getting Agented, Published, and Paid, by Laura Goode. We are very much looking forward to chatting with Laura, and it just so happens that this lovely book she wrote is very applicable to what I want to do in my life. The title really says it all so I won’t bother explaining what the book is about (plus, you’ll be able to hear more about it once our episode with Laura comes out!) I’m still only in the beginning, but the writing is so personable and easy to digest while being full of information as well as clear, actionable steps. Then we have a very different book going alongside, which is Second Pocket First by Gregory Grosvenor who we are also excited to record with in the near future. This book is light-hearted and full of curious characters, especially the main character, Issey, who is a thief for the love of the art of thieving. He is truly one of the quirkiest characters I have had the pleasure of reading about and the book follows his antics as he returns to his hometown and becomes something of a local hero. This book is definitely a harbinger to another very interesting conversation coming up on the Hot Girls Read podcast!

I feel like my reading has been ebbing and flowing between inhaling books and just knocking through 2-3 a week and not reading for days. I of course have books I want to read, I mean I’ve been buying some whenever I step into Waterstones (oops). I think it’s more so that I’m learning to juggle between reading for pleasure, for our podcast content and interviews, and for work. It’s the age-old problem for readers: too much to read and not enough time!
